Workshop series: Outdoor Sessions
A series of workshops for mental health practitioners, coaches and allied professionals.
This series is aimed at deepening our understanding of the work we do with clients in the outdoors, from understanding the competency framework of outdoor work to diving deep into its politics and biases, with the aim to challenge the way we think of this work and, more generally, our profession.
A note
All short workshops are catered for practitioners who can safely deliver a session outdoors (that knowledge would come from experience or training in this area).
If you would like to learn how to bring your private practice outside and don’t know where to start, I offer two types of workshops:
“An introduction to outdoor therapy”, where you’ll learn about the competencies framework we work in as outdoor therapists.
“Taking your therapy practice outside” is a practical workshop that will teach you everything you need to set up a practice outside, from assessing and managing risks, timekeeping and route planning, and how to contract in the outdoors (I offer this training both online and outdoors)
Collaborations
If you would like a more ad-hoc, service-specific workshop on outdoor therapy instead, you can email me at counselling.francesca@gmail.com to discuss this.
Outdoor therapy training (residential – 3 days)
This is a two-night, three-day workshop on working outdoors with a camping component. It is suitable for qualified therapists (or trainee counsellors awaiting their awards), psychotherapists, counselling psychologists and coaches – APRIL ’25
Taking your therapy practice outside
A 2-and-a-half-hour online comprehensive workshop that will set you off to work outside, looking at timekeeping, route planning, assessing and managing risks.
Outdoor therapy: a competency framework
Are you curious about working outside but don’t know where to start? This one-hour online course will look at types of outdoor therapies and therapeutic frameworks within a model of competencies, with a focus on outdoor therapy.
Working outdoors in winter
Explore your relationship with winter while learning how to manage and assess for risks and work safely outdoors during the cold and darker days of the year.
How to work with body shame and body diversity in outdoor therapy
Join Francesca and Clem in a conversation about body shame and body diversity when working outdoors, in this trauma-informed workshop.
