Counselling and psychotherapy (talking therapy)

Somatic Trauma Therapy (body-led therapy)

Wilderness & Outdoor Therapy (nature-based therapy)

Healing is a journey that asks us to listen deeply, not only to the words we speak but also to the quieter parts of ourselves. Often, so much of what we carry doesn’t come to us in words; it lives in tension, unease, or the silence of things we’ve learned to hold in.

Healing begins when we make space for this kind of listening, and to listen, we need to slow down and fine-tune, so the mind can reveal patterns and the body share its wisdom. In today’s fast-paced world, we often lose touch with these skills, yet they are essential to feeling better.

This is not about fixing or forcing change—it’s about gently allowing the pieces of yourself to reconnect in their own time and way.

Whether through the reflective process of counselling, the grounded practices of somatic therapy, or a blend of the two, our work together will be about creating that space. A space where every part of you is acknowledged and supported, so you can move forward with greater ease and clarity. Together, we’ll create a space where you can begin to trust what you hear and take steps toward a life that feels more aligned with you.

What to expect during therapy

Resourcing and grounding

In the early stages of our work together, no matter the type of therapy you choose, we will focus on cultivating safety in the body, with particular care and tenderness towards those bodies who suffer from chronic pain, hold the weight of trauma(s) or are a source of distress and discomfort.

Many people struggle with feeling safe in their bodies, and that’s completely understandable. In this phase of our work, we’ll focus on reclaiming safety in your body, one step at a time. It will be slow and gentle, starting with simple movements that help you reconnect with your body in a manageable and safe way. We will explore what feels soothing and accessible, allowing us to build a foundation of safety step by step. By learning to connect with your physical sensations, we can find ways to ground you in the present moment, making space for healing to unfold at your pace.

These grounding body-led practices act as resources to support you as we begin addressing trauma and stress responses. In each session, we’ll revisit and strengthen these anchors, using them to guide you when navigating what your body may perceive as threatening. Gentle, slow movements—designed to calm the nervous system—can be practised at your own pace between sessions, helping to build resilience and stability.

This process will unfold at your own pace, and we will continuously check in together to make sure it feels right for you.

Deepening and integrating

As we build on your resources and increase your capacity for safety, we will explore the deeper layers of your experiences. This involves processing emotions, thoughts, and behaviours with an understanding of how they’ve been shaped over time. We’ll also create space to reflect on how external systems—such as oppression, power dynamics, and privilege—have influenced your distress and played a role in how you navigate the world. Connecting these larger patterns to your personal experiences will give you deeper insight into your emotional and psychological landscape.

Through a combination of supportive questions and deep body attunement, we will begin to expand your awareness of what feels painful but also what feels peaceful and easy. These moments of peace are just as valuable as the moments of pain, offering essential information about your capacity for balance and healing. As you feel more grounded and safe, new insights will naturally emerge, shedding light on what has been hidden or difficult to face.

In this phase, therapy will naturally tend towards supporting you in integrating these new understandings with the old, weaving them into a clearer picture of yourself. The aim is not just to gain insight but to bring that insight into your everyday life in a way that feels easeful, whole and aware.

What now?

Although my practice involves and invitation and collaboration with the body, it is up to you to decide how to go forward. You are welcome to choose an approach that speaks to you the most. Some will find comfort in the spoken words, and talking therapy (counselling and psychotherapy) may be more fitting. Others will want to lean into the body and naturally continue with a body-led, body-based practice.

I embrace fluidity in my work, and you are welcome to move in and out of different ways of working as therapy progresses.

I offer video calls on Zoom and in-person appointments from my office in a central location in Glasgow’s city centre (availability and pricing at the bottom of the page).

A note on wilderness & outdoor therapy

For those who feel drawn to nature, outdoor and wilderness therapy provide an additional layer of support. The natural world can offer grounding through its rhythms, stillness, and connection to something larger than ourselves. Whether it’s the feel of the earth underfoot, the sound of the wind, or the presence of trees, nature can be a powerful resource for reconnecting to your body and the present moment.

I provide “walk and talk” therapy in an urban park in Glasgow. This allows us to seamlessly translate the work we do online or in the office to an outdoor setting.

I also offer wilderness therapy packages for those seeking a more structured and activity-focused approach. These include an initial and closing 30-minute Zoom session, along with six wilderness therapy sessions conducted in a Glasgow urban park. This comprehensive offering is available at a premium rate.
